emChess came about driven by need really. Keen chess players here at affiliapps, that had been using a Shockwave email chess game for years until it was simply removed one day! After scouring the web for a suitable replacement, often leading to offers of new cars, free steak knives or assistance in the area of sexual performance... we decided enough was enough and to build the world's best email chess game ourselves... and here it is!

While the site is fully functional and a place to enjoy a casual game of chess with friends near and far, it is in a constant state of development. It’s our baby and our first commercial project in the area of web based game interaction.

Why do we say “casual” game play?

Good question!  The benefits of playing chess are many and varied (you can read a little more about that here). At affiliapps, we enjoy the benefits the strategy and strangely enough... the regular communication with each other that we otherwise seem to overlook! But... weren’t so fussed on some of the more formal rules and rankings. So emChess has been built for you to enjoy with no time limits, no rankings, you can take back a move before committing it to gameplay, leave a game for days between moves and more. All the best bits in a user friendly online package!

The site is currently funded by advertisements with an option for a Premium account which gives you more features and ad-free gameplay. Premium membership is for life and costs a fraction of the charges similar games online offer.
